New Jersey Bound

Dear Dad and Mom, This semester is officially over, and I finished my finals a while back. I already found out that I got an A in the class I was most worried about, so I'm really relieved and quite happy. I leave for New Jersey the day after tomorrow on a 7:00 a.m. flight. The company is reimbursing me for the plane ticket, which costs a little over $300 round trip. When I land in Newark, my friend Jim will be there to pick me up. He's the one who helped me get this job, and I'll be staying in his living room. My address while I'm there will be: 66 Wedgewood Circle Eatontown, NJ 07724 U.S.A. Phone: 908-935-1168 I'll give you a call within a day or two of getting there. My job will primarily involve C++ software development. Conveniently, I was the TA for a C++ course this past semester. I have to admit that I haven't been learning C++ for very long and have never used it to build a large software project, so this will be a perfect opportunity to gain some real-world software development experience. It's going to be a regular 9-to-5 job, which means I'll have to start getting up much earlier than I do now. Sleeping in will be out of the question. I ended up lowering the rent on my room and subleasing it to a Chinese friend of Dave, my roommate. Since so many students were trying to sublease their places for the summer, it was really hard to find someone willing to take over a room for just three months, so I had to reduce the rent to $230 a month. Still, that's much better than just letting the room sit empty. I'll be moving back into the same apartment when I return at the end of August. Weihai managed to find a summer job in New Jersey too, working for Siemens, a German company, so we'll be meeting up out there. He's also planning to spend a little over two weeks back in China this summer, partly to visit his parents in Beijing and partly to go to Shanghai for a couple of blind dates. His parents have set him up with two girls from Shanghai. He's never met either of them before, so it'll be interesting to see how things turn out. I'll wrap things up for now since I still need to pack. A few days ago, I bought a small suitcase for my clothes and books.
